Reconstruction of Road at Shakespeare Gardens
Isn't it great to drive from Dunchurch Road along Shakespeare Gardens without being shaken to kingdom come.
Councillor Bill Lewis says, 'We are very pleased that our campaign to correct the abysmal road surface has at last been successful. We first asked for the road to be resurfaced in 2013 and reminded the county council from time to time afterwards that the work had not been done. In 2015 we enlisted the support of a number of residents in our campaign'.
'The first half of the road was reconstructed in March this year and the second half is programmed to be done later in this financial year as long as the county council's government grants are not cut any further. At all times during our campaign to get the reconstruction done we did not work behind the scenes but we kept you fully informed through our Focus newsletter and by e-mail of what we were doing and when the work was due to be started.'
There have been many comments of appreciation from those who use the road and we have passed these on to the county council officers who arranged the work and the contractors who carried out the work.
