Revised Draft South West Rugby Supplementary Planning Document (SPD): Consultation

RLD
12 Oct 2020

Rugby Borough Council is consulting on a planning document to support the Local Plan 2019.

Comments are being sought on the Revised Draft South West Rugby Masterplan Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), which relates to the new Local Plan site allocation for residential, employment and non-residential development in the area.

The purpose of the SPD, once adopted, is to provide guidance for how this development is going to be carried out. It includes information such as an indicative layout, site details, infrastructure requirements and design considerations.

The draft South West Rugby Masterplan has been amended following changes to national planning policy guidance and representations received during the consultation held between October and November 2019.

Amendments to the draft include minor alterations to the route of the spine road network, with resulting changes to the buffer zone between the site and Dunchurch, proposals to locate the primary and secondary school in the site's district centre and amendments to the site's parks and open space provision to ensure the revised draft SPD now better reflects the benchmarks set out in the Local Plan.

A further amendment means the design and character of homes developed on the site remains consistent with the standards included in the Coton Park East SPD, which was adopted by the Council in December 2019.

The draft SPD complements the Local Plan and is intended to be used by planners and applicants/agents/investors/developers, in conjunction with the policies of the Local Plan. The SPD will be a material consideration in the determining of future planning applications on the site.
