Rugby & Bulkington needs a local champion who will stand up for the area
Rugby & Bulkington needs a local champion who will stand up for the area. Jerry Roodhouse is a tireless campaigner with a track record of action as a long standing Rugby Borough and County Councillor.
He operates at the community edge of politics, never afraid to challenge the establishment or be unpopular with officials in pursuit of his constituent's interests. His straight talking approach is needed at Westminster to stand up for Rugby and ensure the final Brexit deal is good for Rugby.
Liberal Democrats put people at the heart of policy, not the other way around. We will protect our NHS and social care services, stop education cuts by putting £7 billion extra into children's education and help people who cannot afford a deposit to buy a house.
We value public sector workers so we will end years of pay restraint for nurses, teachers and police in Warwickshire by lifting the 1% cap on public sector pay. We will invest in infrastructure and commit to a £100 billion package to help boost the economy and ensure Rugby has the roads and schools we need.
We will support families by extending free childcare to all two-year olds in Rugby, give new dads an extra month's paid paternity leave, provide 16-21 year-olds with a discount on bus travel and double the number of businesses which hire apprentices. We will also fund age-appropriate emergency accommodation and supported housing to prevent homelessness in Rugby.
Lib Dems respect the environment and will establish a 70% waste recycling target and extend separate food waste collections to at least 90% of homes by 2022.
