Rugby Tories’ Works Services Unit Failure

25 Jun 2015

Back in December 2014 Cllr Jerry Roodhouse raised his concern that Rugby's Works Services Unit would fail to meet their budget targets this year - see http://rugby.lib.dm/a7RjZ .

At the time the ruling tory group on Rugby Borough Council told him his concerns were groundless. Cllr Leigh Hunt (Con: Clifton, Newton & Churchover) said that "the position would be corrected by the year end".

Unfortunately Cllr Roodhouse's concerns were well founded and the reassurance provided by Cllr Hunt misplaced. The year end figures for the performance of works services show that the unit failed to meet its revised budget by £13,000.

Rugby Borough Council's cabinet, made up solely of tory councillors, meets to consider the end of the year figures next Monday, 29 June 2015. Will the cabinet hold any councillor responsible for this failure? We will wait and see.
