“So many people you won’t be able to see the empty shops” NOT!

23 Oct 2015

At a Rugby Council meeting on 21 July Neil Sandison challenged the ruling conservative group to do more to promote our town centre shops. The tory leader Cllr Mike Stokes said this was unnecessary as with the Rugby World Cup the town centre would be so crowded we would not be able to see the empty shops - see http://rugbylibdems.org.uk/en/article/2015/1097564/so-many-people-you-won-t-be-able-to-see-the-empty-shops-claim-tories .

Last Saturday (17 October 2015) an hour and a half before the crucial Wales versus South Africa game we took these photographs of the town centre. Where were the crowds that the tories had promised would block our view of the empty shops?

Rugby's conservatives would do better if they were to listen to Cllr Sandison's advice.
