St Cross
Cllr Jerry Roodhouse has requested that Warwickshire County Councils Health Scrutiny Committee calls in UHCW regarding the closing of the Hoskyn Ward at St Cross Rugby. Jerry has also sent an email to UHCE requesting the evidance base for the decision and how they reached the conclusion that no Rugby patient will be disadvantaged.
Regarding the closing of Hoskyn Ward at St Cross, as you would have seen this has upset the local population. I would like to raise the following,
- Could you provide the evidence base that board used for the closure along with the point you were making regarding that it will make no difference for Rugby residents.
- Personally, I feel disappointed that the Council was not approached about this issue, I fully recognise the HR matters in handling this matter. I do think the communications around this matter have not been handled well and leaves an uneasy feeling.
- UHCW at a senior level are fully aware of the feelings on health issues in Rugby and for residents this now feels like a further reduction of services even taking into account the expansion plans.
I think there is some work to be done around this matter for Rugby people to reassure them. The Council along with its Cllrs can either help in this matter or hinder. If we are to create a partnership approach it has to be built on trust.
