On Saturday 30 September 2017, Rugby Liberal Democrats successfully held their second drop-in community composting event at the GEC Recreation Ground changing rooms on Hillmorton Road to help residents find out how they can recycle more and reduce their food and garden waste.

This time the event involved a Workshop from the Recycle for Warwickshire Team who talked to a group of residents about the basics of composting and how to get started. Master Composters John and Sandy Young were also on hand to pass on their knowledge and experience.

Commenting, Cllr Jerry Roodhouse, said:

"Our thanks once again go to John and Sandy as well as the Recycle for Warwickshire Team. What is clear from the event is that residents want to know how they can become more environmentally friendly and reduce their food and garden waste. The green bin charge continues to cause confusion and instead of taxing residents for green waste if Rugby Council actually had a joined up approach to household recycling it could save one million pounds."
