The Pleasance Edible Border

29 Mar 2014

The Pleasance pedestrian area next to Trinity Park and the former council toilet block on Church Street has fallen into significant disrepair.

Following the intervention of the Eastlands Lib Dem Councillors (Dale Keeling, Sue Roodhouse and Neil Sandison) the Council has come forward with a new scheme called 'edible borders'. The Pleasance has such a sunny location on Church Street that it has been decided to turn it into a herbaceous border containing edible herbs such as Rosemary, Fennel, Green and Purple Sage, Chives, Bergamot, Golden and English Thyme, Oregano, Cat Mint, Curry Plant, Feverfew and Pineapple Mint.

Pick your own

The great thing about the scheme is that once the plants have grown the Council actually wants you to pick your own herbs to use in your cooking and salads at home.

We welcome the opportunity to see a neglected area of the town centre improved in this way for the benefit of the local community who live in and around the Church Street area and everyone else using the town centre.

Friends in the Park

We don't think the Council has until now been making the most of Trinity Park and The Pleasance. If you, as a local resident, would be interested in setting up a Friends of Trinity Park and The Pleasance Group with your neighbours then Dale, Sue and Neil would like to hear from you.
