Thousands More Houses?

As David Wilson Homes prepares its planning application for a thousand homes and a primary school between Ashlawn Road and the Hillside and Rokeby estates Bill Lewis, Local Campaigner, has heard rumours that other developers are also considering planning applications.

These are for the South West Broad Location (SWBL), which is an area of land that stretches right around from Hillside in the east to Cawston in the west and which could see thousands more extra homes built.

Bill Lewis commented, "This comes down to the fact that Rugby, like many other Councils, is not meeting the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) requirement to have a five-year supply of deliverable housing sites. Rugby has around 3.7 years supply so as a result developers have free rein to make applications wherever they want to."

Bill continued, "Will all this additional development in the this area combined with other development sites around the town mean that the Rugby Southern Relief Road is now back on the agenda?"
