Today one thousand people will tell Rugby Borough Council – Save Ashlawn Fields
At two o'clock this afternoon a huge petition to save Ashlawn Fields will be handed in to Rugby Borough Council.
Over one thousand people have signed the petition to save Ashlawn Fields. The petition was collected by Cllrs Marion Nash and Bill Lewis acting as ward councillors for Rokeby & Overslade. They want to thank Richard Dickson, the Liberal Democrats' candidate for Parliament in the south of the borough, who organised the collection in Dunchurch.
Cllrs Nash and Lewis say that with 6,000 houses planned for the Radio Masts site Rugby's housing needs are met for many years to come. They point out that the planning application for Ashlawn Road makes no provision for secondary education or primary health care. Services at St Cross will be put under extra pressure. The houses will add to traffic problems and in particular add to the congestion and air pollution at the Dun Cow junction in Dunchurch.
