Unsafe Garages in Hillmorton

30 Sep 2014

Local tenants living in Lever Road flats contacted your Hillmorton Focus team over their concerns about the garages in the area. Rugby Council has declared them unsafe and fenced the area off. County Councillor Richard Dodd said, "We welcome the fact that the Council has made the area safer but our concerns over this have not gone away. In the Hillmorton Focus we have regularly raised our concerns about the future of these sites as the Council seem to be letting them fall into decay."

We say that the Council needs to act it could:

~ Build new council housing on the sites.

~ Invest into flats at Lever Rd and elsewhere, such as new windows and energy saving.

~ Consider putting renewable energy systems onto the buildings, such as solar panels.

As one me tenant told Jerry Roodhouse and Richard Dodd, "I am paying full rent and do not get anything in return." We have contacted the Housing Department for a statement. It seems to us that this part of Hillmorton has been forgotten about!
