Urgent solutions needed to support residents - Rugby Lib Dems
The Rugby Liberal Democrat Council Group have raised four key issues with the Leader of Rugby Borough Council to support residents as the bin strike continues.
-Firstly, we want to say thank you to Rugby Borough Council staff who continue to support residents where they can.
-Does the Council seek to compensate residents for lack of service whilst the strike continues?
-Can Rugby Borough Council locate recycling skips around the urban area, even the major superstore recycling sites are overflowing, and ensure short term solutions are being sufficiently explored?
-Dog waste is becoming an issue with bins overflowing which could lead to potentially unhygienic areas. Can the removal of this waste be prioritised?
Commenting, Rugby Lib Dems Group Leader, Councillor Jerry Roodhouse, said:
"With the warm weather and ongoing strike action, Liberal Democrats Councillors are concerned that without practical solutions to support residents the situation will worsen. In the coming weeks as we move in summer and the extended bank holiday to mark Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee more people will be out and about and there is the potential for rubbish to detrimentally impact our community spaces.
"The Conservatives have a poor track record on supporting residents with waste and recycling through additional charges for green waste and now is the time for action.
"Central to our concerns is the issue of compensation for residents, prioritising the emptying of dog waste bins and providing residents with recycling skips that they can use."
