Walsgrave Hospital in the red too
The BBC is reporting that under conservative health minister Jeremy Hunt the National Health Service's finances have spiralled out of control and are heading for a £2 billion overspend this year.
Figures released by the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust which runs both Walsgrave and St Cross Hospitals show that they too are part of this national trend. The trust made a loss of £13 million pounds in the first five months of this financial year (April 2015 to August 2015).
Jeremy Hunt is known for wanting GPs to work a seven day week and believes that the take home pay of less well off workers should be reduced until they work as hard as the Chinese - see http://rugby.lib.dm/a310l9 . Perhaps he should now roll up his own sleeves and start burning the midnight oil to solve the financial crisis facing our NHS.
